VCT is run by Dean Sedgebeer, an independent damp, traditional building and energy efficiency specialist based in Kenfig Hill, Bridgend.

VCT was set up to solve a specific problem: the firm that diagnoses your damp is usually the same firm that quotes to fix it — which means every diagnosis has a financial incentive behind it. VCT carries out no remediation, treatments or product sales of any kind. The report is the entire product.

Much of the work is South Wales's older housing stock — pre-1919 and solid-wall homes that were built to manage moisture by breathing, not by being sealed. Getting that distinction right is the difference between a diagnosis that helps and a "fix" that traps moisture and makes things worse.
